DOWN TO THE WIRE

Just stumbled upon on this awesome site, "The Makers". Very like the idea of the Coveteur, who showcase established designers in their homes, the Makers showcases independent designers & artists in their studio spaces as well as beautiful photos of their hand-crafted products. These gorgeous light fixtures are custom created by Jean Pelle and her husband, who both studied architecture at Yale. They reminded me of this similar fixture I had posted not too long ago in this NYC Loft. If you want too see more of their pieces check out their online store here

London Calling

Studio Toogood in London is quite frankly TOO GOOD! Combining art, architecture, fashion and interiors with a strong conceptual idea and a dash of playfulness, their work is everything I could ask for in a design company.

This particular project is for the Rug Company in NYC, which just opened recently in The States. All the accessories in the space are sourced from British antique markets. I really am loving the juxtaposition of the antique portraits with graphic elements "graffitied" over the somewhat traditional background. Again, this design is too good.

I have decided I must get a job here after graduation and get back to London for round two :)

Quick Reminder

Lately I have been a tad bit overwhelmed with design school and it is always a refreshing to get a new point of view on why we do the things we do! Image via Designlovefest.

Feminine Branding

I'll take one of each from the lovely ladies at Seesaw design! I love how refreshingly simple and carefree their designs are but still 100% unique.

Uber Urban Styling

Good Morning Sunshine!

I thought I'd wake up your senses this Wednesday morning with some edgy images from Toogood studios based in good ol' Londontown. I stumbled across this creative studio and immediately was drawn to the strong textures consistently seen throughout the photo shoots. The locations they decided upon are primarily industrial--raw brick and plenty of exposed beams dramatically contrast against the bold textiles and unique furniture. Toogood's clients include *Wallpaper and Elle Decoration magazines as well as window display concepts for Liberty of London, Habitat and Tom Dixon. Major, major names in the British Design Industry.

If you have time, try and check out Toogood and see how their creative process literally unfold from concept to realization! I love seeing other designer's thoughts and ideas come to real life and try to take some of their ways and incorporate into my own. XX

LOVE this concept board--simple yet moving.

Kelley Wearstler and Phillipe Starck both would be proud to see the use of playful proportions applied to everyday objects.
